How long does a website really take?
A business website can be live in days rather than months when one team writes it, designs it, builds it and makes the calls as it goes. Our five builds on record took between two days and a week each, and what slows most websites down is not the building. It is the waiting.
Part of: Launch
Ask three agencies how long a website takes and you will hear three answers, usually measured in months. The honest answer depends less on the size of the site than on how many times the work stops and waits.
Where the time goes
Very little of a slow website's calendar is spent designing or writing code. Most of it is spent waiting: for someone to choose between two directions, for the words to arrive, for photographs, for a page to be approved by a person who is busy running the business.
Every wait has a cost beyond its own length. The team that was building moves on to something else, and picking the work back up a week later takes a day of its own.
So the question that predicts the timeline is not "how many pages?" It is "how many decisions are waiting on someone outside the team doing the work?"
What makes it fast
A website moves fast when one team does all of it and makes the decisions as it goes: the brief, the mark, the colours and type, the page plans, the design, the build and the launch. Nothing waits for a hand-off between a designer, a copywriter and a developer, and nobody waits for a meeting to choose between two directions.
That is how we run a launch, and a launch includes six things: brand basics, copy, design, development, SEO and AI-search basics, and analytics. Hosting is not part of a launch.
The launch times on record
These are the five builds we have launched this way, each with what it covered:
| Build | What it covered | Launched in |
|---|---|---|
| Workzap, our own company | Brand and website | 4 days |
| Psychological Help Centre | Website | 6 days |
| Meat The Cheese | Website | 2 days |
| Atif Bin Arif | Brand and website | A week |
| Dalal & Co. | Brand and website | 2 days |
A time without its scope would mislead: a two-day website and a two-day brand and website are different jobs. And five builds is too few to average, so we do not give one.
What makes it take longer
Some work is bigger than a launch. An AI system, such as a WhatsApp agent or a custom CRM, gets its own timeline, written down before anyone starts, because launch times like these are for brands and websites only. You can see how those builds start on our AI systems page.
The other thing that stretches a timeline is a decision nobody can make yet: a business name still under discussion, or two partners who want different things. That is worth settling before any website work begins, with any team.
What you need to give us
Anything you can provide: for example your logo, your photos and whatever you have already written about the business. We do the rest.
If you want to see how a launch runs on a real build, it is on our Launch page.
