How to Choose a Video Production Team in Karachi (2026 Guide)

Hiring a video team in Karachi is harder than it should be. There are dozens of options, prices range from “suspiciously cheap” to “international-agency expensive”, and the work quality between two production houses with identical websites can be radically different. Here’s how to pick well.

The three tiers of video production in Karachi (and what each costs)

Tier 1: Freelance / one-person crew — PKR 30,000 to 100,000 per video

A single person with a camera, a basic lighting kit, and editing skills. Good for: simple reels, single-location shoots, low-budget testimonials. Not good for: multi-camera shoots, complex lighting, branded campaign work that needs multiple stakeholders signed off.

Tier 2: Boutique production house — PKR 150,000 to 600,000 per video

A 4-8 person team with proper director, DOP, lighting and sound crew, and post production. Good for: brand films, ad campaigns, product launches, multi-location shoots. This is the right tier for 80% of Pakistani brands.

Tier 3: Full-service production — PKR 800,000+ per video

Large-format productions with multiple cameras, talent agencies, set design, location permits, post-production studios. Reserved for major TV commercials, large brand campaigns, and projects where the budget exists to control every variable.

How to brief a video team properly

The single biggest reason video projects in Karachi go over budget and miss deadlines is bad briefing. A good brief covers:

  • The objective. Not “a video about our brand” — specifically: a 15-second Meta ad to drive sales of Product X to women 25-40 in DHA.
  • Where it will run. Instagram reels, YouTube ads, TV, in-store screens, internal training? Each requires different formats and edits.
  • Length and aspect ratio. 9:16 vertical for reels, 1:1 square for feed, 16:9 landscape for YouTube. Often you need multiple versions of the same shoot.
  • References. Two or three videos in a similar style. “Something like this Apple ad but for our budget.” Visual references move faster than 1000 words of description.
  • Constraints. Talent already chosen or open? Location available or to be sourced? Voiceover or no? Music budget?
  • Deadline. When does it need to go live? Working backwards from that, when does each stage need to lock?

Production houses that ask good questions about all of this before quoting are usually the ones who’ll deliver well. Houses that quote a price the day you send a one-line request are guessing.

Red flags when hiring a Karachi video team

  • The portfolio is mostly wedding videos. Wedding videography skills don’t translate to commercial. Beautiful shots, but the storytelling logic is completely different.
  • The quote is dramatically cheaper than others. Either the team is cutting corners (bad equipment, no proper crew, no post-production budget) or they’re hoping to scope-creep their way to a profitable project later.
  • They don’t ask about distribution. A team making content for Meta needs to think about thumbnails, hook the first 1.5 seconds, and silent-mode subtitles. A team filming for cinema doesn’t. Asking how the video will be used is a sign they understand the difference.
  • No clear contract. Get who owns the raw footage, the edit, and the music rights in writing. Disputes about raw-footage ownership are the most common video-project breakdown in Pakistan.

What a good shoot day looks like

For a typical PKR 300,000 brand shoot day in Karachi, expect: 6-8 hour shoot with a 4-6 person crew (director, DOP, focus puller, lighting, sound, production manager), 30-50 setups, 2-3 looks if it’s wardrobe-driven, full post-production with first cut delivered 5-7 working days later and final delivery 10-14 working days later. Anything dramatically faster is sacrificing quality control; anything dramatically slower needs explaining.

The bottom line

Most Pakistani brands need Tier 2 production — boutique houses in the PKR 150K-600K range. Brief them properly, ask about distribution, get raw-footage ownership in writing, and you’ll get great work.
